According to a press release from the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration (ABCA), the agency’s Enforcement Division, accompanied by Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers, issued Closure Orders to Sky’s the Limit at 1325 Connecticut Avenue NW on August 29, 2025.
ABCA stated that the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis (ABC) Board ordered the closure because the business was operating illegally and posed an imminent risk to public health and safety. According to their website, they offered hookah, vapes, cigars and CBD.
During the closure, ABCA reported that MPD officers executed a search warrant and seized nearly two pounds of cannabis, along with THC edibles, vapes, resin, and four grams of mushrooms. A 33-year-old Woodbridge, Virginia resident, was arrested and charged with distribution and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, according to the release. There have been over thirty individuals arrested since 2024 in ABCA and MPD operations against unlicensed cannabis shops.
ABCA said the action brings the total number of businesses padlocked since July 2024 to 69, following the passage of the Medical Cannabis Conditional License and Unlicensed Establishment Closure Clarification Emergency Amendment Act, which granted the agency additional enforcement powers.
