LJ Dawson is a journalist based in Washington, D.C., with a strong passion for criminal justice and drug policy reform. She is founder of the notable criminal justice newsletter The Des, and has covered diverse topics for outlets such as POLITICO and Denver Westword, ranging from cannabis and criminal justice to outdoor sports and arts & culture. Passionate about telling compelling stories, LJ believes in the power of journalism to build bridges and foster community.
