Washington, D.C. regulators shut down three unlicensed cannabis businesses between March 25 and March 31, 2026, according to a press release from the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration (ABCA).
The closures were carried out in coordination with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) at Treehouse DC, Pressure Deliveries and Level Up Smoke & Tobacco Shop. Officials stated the businesses were operating without licenses and cited concerns about public health and safety.
The actions were conducted under authority granted by the Medical Cannabis Conditional License and Unlicensed Establishment Closure Clarification Emergency Amendment Act of 2024, which expanded ABCA’s civil enforcement powers. Since the law took effect on July 15, 2024, the agency reports that 107 unlicensed cannabis businesses have been padlocked.
At Treehouse DC, located at 1922 I Street NW, authorities reported seizing 14 pounds of cannabis, along with THC-infused products including edibles, liquid, resin and vape cartridges. A 33-year-old man from Alexandria, Virginia, was arrested.
At Pressure Deliveries, located at 3417 23rd Street SE, officers reported seizing 10.2 pounds of cannabis, as well as THC concentrates, wax, resin, edibles, and vape cartridges. A 33-year-old man from Waldorf, Maryland, was arrested.
At Level Up Smoke & Tobacco Shop, located at 1938 9th Street NW, authorities reported seizing 3.2 pounds of cannabis, THC wax and one oxycodone pill. Police also reported recovering two semi-automatic firearms and ammunition. A 42-year-old man from Northwest Washington was arrested.
