Quick Hit: Meet Mia Mason, the Pro-Cannabis Candidate Going Up Against Andy Harris

Readers of The Outlaw Report know all about Congressman Andy Harrs, anti-cannabis politician to his core. Harris infamously is to blame for Washington D.C. legalizing cannabis but not being able to have a proper commercial cannabis industry and he is also something of a Covid truther and all-around drug reform spoiler sport as his attempts to prevent a psychedelics decriminalization bill illustrate.

Well the Outlaw Report just wanted to note that with the election coming up, there is a particularly pro-cannabis candidate running against Harris: Democratic Candidate in Maryland’s District 1.  Mason, a military veteran and as her bio boasts, “the first LGBTQ candidate to ever win a primary for a federal position in the state.” Mason has spoken out in favor of federal legalization, expungement, and more. The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) has given Mason a “A” grade. Harris meanwhile, has been given an “F” by NORML.

On Friday, October 9, Mason will continue her multi-part “Conversation About Marijuana” series on Zoom at 8 p.m. And on Wednesday, October 14, Mason will get even deeper into drug reform as part of a discussion titled “The Politics Of Overdose Prevention Sites,” along with Baltimore County State Senator Shelly Hettleman and Brandon Scott, the Baltimore City Council President (and likely the next mayor of Baltimore). It streams live on Facebook at 2 p.m.
