Maryland is considering a “clean slate” policy that would automatically expunge criminal records for many nonviolent misdemeanors. This would significantly streamline the process of clearing criminal records, which currently requires individuals to navigate a complex and often costly legal process.

Virginia Fines Hemp Retailers $10.8M for Selling Restricted Products

Virginia has cracked down on hemp product retailers. The state issued over $10 million in fines to more than 300 retailers for selling products that violate new restrictions on THC levels and labeling requirements. The majority of inspected retailers were found to be in violation of the new law.

More people are driving under the influence of cannabis, and law enforcement is struggling to address the issue. Studies show a correlation between cannabis legalization and increased traffic deaths. While new saliva tests are helping identify impaired drivers, experts warn that these tests don’t definitively prove impairment.

A Missouri cannabis legalization advocate is under fire for potentially exploiting the state’s social equity program. The state also issued an executive order prohibiting the sale of hemp-derived intoxicating substances, such as Delta-8 THC, in food and drink products. 

A Michigan cannabis processing company, Sky Labs, is accused of importing large amounts of unregulated THC concentrate from outside the state, mislabeling the product in official records.
