Both appointments were unanimously confirmed by the D.C. Council on October 29, following nominations by Mayor Muriel Bowser. These additions bring the ABC Board to five members, joining Ward 5 residents Silas Grant Jr. and Teri Janine Quinn who are also serving their first terms.

Ryan L. Jones is a seasoned attorney with a legal background spanning corporate law, civil litigation and government service. David Meadows, a dedicated advocate for Ward 8’s LGBTQIA+ community, boasts 30 years of experience in leadership roles within the District government and civic organizations, according to the ABCA press release.

“We are pleased to welcome our newest board members and look forward to them lending their vast expertise in advancing ABCA’s mission,” Director Fred Moosally, ABCA said. “They are joining the Board at a critical time as ABCA continues to rapidly close illegal cannabis shops and support District Government in preparing to host the 60th Presidential Inaugural and World Pride in 2025.”

The ABC Board nominations are made by the Mayor and confirmed by the DC Council. Board members serve four-year terms. The board handles both alcohol and cannabis licenses and issues including investigations and suspensions.
