Sales continue to drop
D.C. released the monthly medical cannabis program metrics for October, revealing a slight drop in dispensary sales and the second consecutive monthly drop over $300,000 in cultivation sales. But due to newly included manufacturer sales of $761,330, D.C.’s medical program was able to reach a four month high for revenue. The program sold a total of almost $4.8 million in cannabis products overall. It’s important to note that these metrics do not include the gray market I-71 shops that proliferate across the city.
October 2023 Highlights
- Without the manufacturer sales, October sales would have marked the lowest in sales for the program in two years.
- There was a slight rise in patients served by a dispensary from 11,029 to 11,207.
- The top state for temporary patient registrations was Maryland for the second month in a row followed by Virginia than Florida.
- October overall sales were higher compared to the same month in 2022, again due to the new addition of manufacturer sales.
- Straight cannabis bud sales fell after last months rise. Kief was the only product with a significant bump in sales.
- 0 pounds of cannabis waste was destroyed in October.
- Over 1,000 patient registrations are set to expire in the next two months.
- Temporary patient self-certifications rose significantly in October by almost 600, from 1,456 to 2,020.
- 2023 patient sales continue to drop from a program high this April when a four year record of over $3.5 million in dispensary sales was hit.
