Mark Nagib is overjoyed to finally bring Pink Fox to the legal D.C. medical market after years in the I-71 market. Nagib’s type one manufacturing facility was the first new manufacturer to bring products to licensed D.C. dispensaries starting this past December since D.C. began expanding its medical market in 2023.
The name Pink Fox originated from the Ziplock bags covered in pink foxes that Nagib and his business partner Kelley O’Connell originally bought from Target to pack their edibles in. O’Connell died in 2021 from ovarian cancer, leaving Nagib to see the business to the legal market by himself.
Nagib said opening Pink Fox in the legal market after losing O’Connell in 2021 “means a lot.”
“She changed my entire life and, and it feels really good to be able to cross the finish line,” he said. Nagib added that the finish line of opening in the legal market may be more of a “starting block.”
Nagib said it took six months to open the Pink Fox after signing a lease last summer, an eternity to him but fast compared to the pace of other manufacturers attempting to open. Pink Fox is currently offering almost a dozen products from classic edible brownies to their remix of Cheezits called Cheese Roxs.

Nagib said the most difficult part of transitioning to the legal medical D.C. market is the increase in scale of production.
“You’re making such large batches for a couple different reasons. One to service the demand for the stores, but the other side is the testing cost. You want to make it as cost effective as possible for yourself,” Nagib said.
He added that going from making small I-71 batches to meticulously cutting brownies to pass testing has been a transition. But the effort has been worth it, most dispensaries have already placed a second order from Pink Fox, according to Nagib.
Nagib is looking forward to the market growing in D.C. as more stores and producers come online. “I think that the District has this unbelievable potential to be a cannabis destination on the East Coast,” he said. Until then, Pink Fox will continue producing THC infused versions of classic and favorite snacks.
