D.C. medical cannabis market grows in July, driven by manufacturing sales despite dispensary plateau

D.C.’s medical cannabis market grew to $8.84 million in July, up over $400K from June and nearly double last year’s sales. Growth was driven by a $372K boost in manufacturing, while dispensary revenue stayed flat despite five new shops opening. Patient numbers rose by 4,500, with local registrations jumping from 13K to nearly 18K, though this translated to less than $70K in added sales. Out-of-state patient participation dipped, but still contributed about $500K. Sales rose across most product categories, even as average dispensary revenue fell.
